Deleting an Announcement:

To do this, you will need to have the ability to view custom records. Likely, this will mean being an administrator.

In the Administrator role:

1. Navigate through "Customization > Lists, Records and Fields > Record Types" and click on "Record Types."

2. On the Record Types page, find the [REED] Acknowledgement record and click on the “List” button:

3. This will show you all created Announcements, find the one you want to see who has ackowledged, and click on “Edit.”

4. This will load the Announcement record's page. Click on the “Acknowledgements” SubTab and ensure it is empty like the screenshot below:

5. If it is empty, hover over the “Actions” button and click the “Delete” option to delete the announcement.

A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm if you want to delete it. Click “OK.”

If it is not empty, then you need to delete these Acknowledgements first. Instructions on how to do this are below in the “Deleting Dependent Records” section of the article. Once they are deleted you may return to delete the Announcement record.

IF YOU ENCOUNTER THIS ERROR:

This means people have already acknowledged the announcement. This has created records that are linked to the announcement. These must be deleted first before attempting to delete the announcement. Follow the steps below to find them and delete them:

Deleting dependent records:

To find them and delete them, go to the Acknowledgements SubTab on the Announcement record (you can click “Go Back” in the above screenshot).

Under the Ackowledgements SubTab, while holding down the Ctrl key, click Edit for each of the ackowledgements to open them up in a new tab.

For each of these Acknowledgements, hover over the “Actions” button and click “Delete:”

When you have deleted all of the Acknowledgements, you can return to the Announcement record and delete that successfully.
